Our History

  • 1996: 3D Machine is Formed

Brothers Tim and Dave Deno began in January of 1996 working nights and weekends to get their new company off of the ground. In June of 1996, Tim and Dave took 3D Machine into contract manufacturing full time, and their first CNC lathe was added in the Fall of 1996.

  • 2000: New Larger Facility

In 2000, 3D Machine moved from our original 2,500 square foot facility at the edge of town to a 10,000 square foot facility downtown. The new facility was a portion of an empty manufacturing facility, which we renovated for our operations.

  • 2004: Added Manufacturing Space

In 2004, 3D Machine purchased and renovated the two 6,000 square foot buildings adjacent to our main 10,000 foot facility, increasing our manufacturing space up to a total of 22,000 square feet.

  • 2007: New Building Purchase

In 2007, we bought an empty 50,000 square foot building one block down the street from our facility, renovated it, and moved our production operations into it. We also reduced the size of our previous facility down to 18,000 square feet, and we continue to maintain it as a flex space for warehousing and additional production.

  • 2010: Lean Six Sigma Implementation

Through a range of training programs and software additions, 3D Machine added Lean Six Sigma capabilities to develop a culture based on continual improvement in every facet of our operations.

  • 2013: Cofounder Dave Deno Retires

At the end of 2013, Dave Deno, 3D Machine cofounder and brother of Vice President Tim Deno, retires after 17 years with the company. Dave’s duties were carefully redistributed to other key staff, enabling us to maintain our operational capabilities while streamlining our staff.

  • 2014: Swiss Turning and Streamlining

In 2014, 3D Machine purchased our first swiss turning equipment, enabling us to add this valuable service to our suite of offerings. We also rearranged the machinery and tooling in our facility to reduce setup times, which has helped enable us to continue to hold our hourly shop rate steady since 2008.

  • 2015: ISO 9001:2008 Certification

In December of 2015, 3D Machine officially received our ISO 9001:2008 certification based on standards set forth by the International Organization for Standardization. This certification validates our quality management systems and reinforces our place in the top tier of our industry.

  • 2015: 5-Axis Milling Capabilities

With the addition of our new Haas VF-4 with Nikken trunnion, 3D Machine gains cutting-edge 5-axis machining and milling capabilities, enabling us to create complex curves and complicated components which we previously took much longer to produce or could not produce at all.
